Spruce up a pair of Flip Flops

I came up with this idea out of fashion necessity last summer, as I looked down at my drab looking flip flops. I used two small silk flowers.

I first started by taking the flowers apart, and removing the stem. If your flower has different layers, start with the bottom layer. Glue the first layer to the thong part (the part that goes between your toes) of the flip flop. Then glue the next layer on top of the first, layering and gluing as you go. Finish the flowers off by gluing the center piece on.

If there is no center to your flower and you feel it needs one, you can glue various things to the center. A decorative button or bead would be a nice touch. This technique can be used for any sandal but looks best on a thong style.
